Case Study : Bhakti Deshpande

Fortunate to be born in a family of artists Bhakti Deshpande began her artistic journey at the early age of 5 under her parents & gurus, Smt. Vidyahari Deshpande & Shri. Sunil Deshpande. ‘Sanskaar’ (value orientation) that passes on through the structure of family & guru-shishya parampara, came handy to Bhakti. This is what distinguishes her from other talented artists of her cadre.

Bhakti is also blessed to have been training under Padmavibhushan Pt. Birju Maharajji & Padmashree Pt. Suresh Talwalkarji since the age of 12. From then on, her talent has known no bounds.

Simultaneously, Bhakti’s potential was well tapped by her guru Pt. Birju Maharajji to have showcased through his choreographies in: National Award winning song for choreography from Kamal Haasan’s ‘Vishwaroopam’. She has played younger ‘Begum Para’ in the film Dedh Ishqiy..
